Leap Day Challenge

I am a sucker for NIKE+ challenges – even though my NIKE+ GPS watch doesn’t congratulate me anymore when I break a record… what’s up with that?

After I started January with a 100 miles, I wanted February to count, too. Though I am going to fall a little short of 100 miles, I am getting close. With that in mind I entered the NIKE+ Leap Day Challenge.

Off to the gym I went (just grey and gloomy outside) to do my hill training on the treadmill. I had 3 miles in mind for the hill training and completed those, then just decided to keep running slowly for a little longer – just for fun as one does…

6.4 miles later I stepped off the treadmill (elevation gain 594 feet).

Then I followed my upper body workout plan for another 20 minutes.

I made leap day count. Happy! πŸ™‚

How are you making leap day count?

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

  1. I made leap day count by heading to the gym right after breakfast for an hour of strength training! I couldn’t stop myself from taking leap day literally by throwing in some plyometrics at the end πŸ™‚

  2. I made it to the pool this morning and will run 5 miles this evening. What I really want to do is leap in to bed!

  3. I love Nike+ challenges too! So much so, that despite still being on crutches, I am doing the Make It Count challenge! One mile on crutches will be done later this afternoon!

Well done on making it count!

  4. is the nike+ GPS watch any good? too big? I use Runkeeper but i’m also a sucker for the nike+ system and my sportband is starting to play up.

    • I like the NIKE+ GPS watch. It’s easy to use, but doesn’t have all the features that the Garmin has. The NIKE+ website sucks. Depending on what you are looking for, the NIKE+ GPS watch is easy to use and I like how you can see your runs on a map or satellite picture afterward. But it ain’t a Garmin… Hope this helps..

  5. Great job – and I love the quote!

  6. It’s cold and gloomy here in China, too. I am taking the day off from running today (I’ve done it 2 in a row) and I’ve done yoga and bowled 3 games on my wii. Total of 54 minutes of exercise.
