The tube lady…

Yesterday evening, I took the tube, the London Underground, to Old Street for a networking event. I had been busy all day and haven’t really felt like smiling for most of the day. Allergies ruining my face, work stuff ruining my mood…

As I got off the tube, the tube traffic coordinator lady (I don’t know what her job description is) on the platform totally changed my day around. She welcomed back the driver and greeted him by name. She greeted all the passengers and told us to start smiling. The work day is over, you are all going home, she said. You are all meeting your family and friends, she said.  It’s a great day, she said.

I just had to smile. She was right. It was a great day. And in that one instance my day turned around.

I met amazing people at the networking event. I even won a prize. And on the way back home I received an email asking me if I would like to mentor 9 people for a Team in Training flex team.  Of course, I will.

I actually walked up to the tube lady yesterday and told her that she made me smile. That made her smile even more.

Thank you, tube lady, for reminding me what’s important!

Happy Friday, y’all!
