Today at the men’s Olympic triathlon…

Apparently, I did not get to Hyde Park early enough.

I got there 90 minutes before the start of the event and it was already busier than it had been on Saturday during the women’s triathlon. Of course, two British brothers contested (and won gold and bronze) and that got the crowd out.

It was great to watch, but I wasn’t in a good photo position for this event even though I stood close to the same spot as on Saturday. Only there were 10 people deep in front of me and about 40 people deep behind… C.R.A.Z.Y.

Given that the British triathletes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee pretty much dominated the race (they were starting the run in the top spots), you could just imagine the spirit people were in, the cheers of the crowd, the excitement. It was a fantastic atmosphere, but to be honest, the race itself was a little boring… 😉

We already knew the top three as they started running, so there was no surprise ending or a tough race at the end with a photo-finish like the women’s triathlon had. It’s always fun to see how the same race can be so different.

I did catch some fun photos though. The Slovakia team had a strong swimmer which the Slovakian fans were proud to show off:

the t-shirt reads: “Slovakia first out of the water”

The French carried around a life-size cardboard poster of their triathlon idol, Luis Vincent, who came in 11th.

I finally showed some color in support of Team Germany. Jan Frodeno, gold medalist in Beijing, came in 6th.

And then I saw this colorful “international” lady with all the country flags and had to take her photo. She captures the spirit of these international games:
