Punk Mandeville

Going through some of my pictures this weekend, I noticed that I never shared my Punk Mandeville photo with you.

Punk Mandeville

As we were “hunting” for Olympic mascots, I became obsessed with Punk Mandeville and made it my quest to find him. When I finally found him, I wasn’t really that impressed. Even after a couple of weeks, I am still not quite getting this one, but I thought I shall surely share with you.

My favorites remain Animal Wenlock and Cockney Wenlock.

Walking around town with a friend this weekend, I noticed that all the Olympic mascot sculptures were gone (at least in the areas we walked around). Quite sad. I think they really enhanced the image of the city.

Happy Monday!

  1. He is funky and fun, but I’m with you, I don’t really get it. Around here the university mascot is a tiger so they did the same thing (with a tiger statue of course) and different artists got the chance to paint them. They lined the campus for a while and then were auctioned off. A lot of them went to area businesses and now the tigers are in front of offices, hospitals, banks, etc. I thought that was a great idea. Maybe you’ll find some around town at businesses too.

    • Good point. At some point there will be a new hunt for Wenlock & Mandevilles. Once people find them outside said buildings. I am sure I’ll join that movement… 🙂

  2. I think he’s punky and funky 🙂 I bet it is sad that they are gone… did you say that they were going to auction them off?

    • Yes, they were auctioned off. I would have loved to see an Olympic Mascot Park being built with all the mascots. I think that would have been awesome. But I can’t blame people for wanting one in their backyard. 🙂
